A free, supportive community space for individuals with additional needs, disabilities, and mental health challenges.
WELCOME TO OUR CARE FARM
At Hensell Goat Rescue Care Farm CIC, we believe in the quiet, transformative power of connection between animals and people. Our weekly Farm Day Club provides a calm, safe, and structured environment where adults and young people with additional needs can step away from everyday pressures, learn practical skills, and experience the therapeutic benefits of a working rescue sanctuary.
Whether brushing our gentle rescue goats, preparing feeds, or taking part in light seasonal farm activities, our sessions are designed to nurture emotional wellbeing, independence, and genuine community belonging.

WHAT WE DO: MEANINGFUL, THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES
Our sessions follow a relaxed, participant-led rhythm. Activities are adapted to individual mobility, sensory needs, and comfort levels, including:
● Hands-on Animal Care: Grooming, gentle handling, and paddock companionship with our resident therapy herd.
● Routine & Feeding: Measuring hay rations, refilling fresh water, and preparing nutritional treats.
● Farm Tasks: Light maintenance around our quiet paddocks.
● Social Time: Enjoying a warm cuppa, chatting about the day, and building positive friendships in a non-judgmental space.
MEASURED COMMUNITY OUTCOMES
Care farming and animal-assisted intervention deliver proven therapeutic and social benefits. Through our Day Club, we actively support participants to:
● Combat Loneliness & Isolation: Bringing people together to form lasting friendships and reduce social anxiety.
● Improve Emotional Wellbeing: Animal contact triggers calming physiological responses, lowering stress and boosting mood.
● Build Practical Independence: Learning real-world care routines fosters personal responsibility and confidence.
● Physical Health & Mobility: Encouraging gentle, outdoor physical activity at each person's own pace.
● Sense of Purpose: Feeling valued as an essential part of our rescue herd’s daily wellbeing.
LICENSING, SAFEGUARDING & WELFARE
We operate under full statutory compliance to guarantee the safety of both our visitors and animals:
● Licensed Animal Welfare Establishment: License No. AWL0192.
● Registered Community Interest Company (CIC): Company No. 15788003.
● Safeguarding & Risk Assessed: All sessions are supervised by experienced handlers, with clear hygiene protocols and accessible amenities.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE FARM DAY CLUB
We are committed to keeping these sessions 100% free of charge so financial barriers never prevent someone from accessing therapeutic care.
However, running year-round care farm sessions requires continuous investment in animal feed, welfare, vet care, and all-weather shelter infrastructure.
● Core Funding & Grants: We welcome conversations with grant-making trusts, local authorities, and charitable foundations looking to fund health and social inclusion projects.
● Community & Business Sponsorship: Local businesses and supporters can sponsor specific club days, sensory tools, or contribute to our ongoing Winter Barn Appeal to ensure our sessions can run through wet and freezing winter weather.
