Open Days

 

Our mission is to provide a safe space for goats in need and to give them a carefree and comfortable home.

We offer a home to a goat or goats that can no longer

be cared for, whatever the reason

and we will give sanctuary to that goat

whilst ever it needs our care and understanding.

 

We are not a visitor centre, nor are we open to the public on a daily basis.

This is because we are a small team and we have to put the

care and welfare of the goats first and with so many

goats to care for, there is a lot of work involved in

cleaning, grooming and welfare.

However we do have a wonderful team of volunteers during the summer months and this enables us to have Open Days for special fund raising purposes where we will welcome everyone

to visit the farm at no charge for entry or car parking.

You will have access to the whole farm.

 There is also a lovely picnic meadow to while away a few hours in the sunshine.

Our farm opens out onto the wonderful Sutton Branchline Footpath where you can enjoy a fabulous country walk.

Bring your dog, we are very dog friendly

(dogs must be kept on leads)

It is hoped that visitors enjoy themselves and interact with the goats with the treat bags we have on sale.

We hope that you will support our cause by having a go on the Tombola or by purchasing merchandise that we have for sale.

There are also collection boxes for donations to

help to feed and care for the animals.

100% of the donations is used for the animals

and none of our team are paid or take expenses,

therefore every penny given is guaranteed to go to the animals.

Our main aim is that we can continue to keep taking in goats whether its through neglect, cruelty or simply the owner can no longer keep the goat, but the care and welfare is very expensive and we rely soley on donations and fund raising events.

On Open Days we display large banners each side of the farm entrance to help visitors find us easily

FOSTER A GOAT OR TWO

Goats are extremely socialable animals and thrive on love and attention.

They make fantastic companions and your life will be filled with joy and fulfillment.

​

Have you got what it takes to be a goat fosterer?

​

Although we would love to keep every goat here forever, to comply with our charitable status regulations, when we feel that a goat is ready to be fostered to a new home we will try and match the goat to its new environment.

Goat fosterers are essential to us, they help us free up space on our farm to enable us to rescue other goats in need.

As a goat forsterer you'll earn our unending gratitude

and complete support.

We'll support you every step of the way.

Don't worry if you aren't sure what is needed we will visit you to prepare a checklist to help you and prepare you.

​

• We always foster more than one goat unless you already have company

• The fencing must be robust and secure to prevent your curious friend from straying and keep them safe

• A goat is quite a wuss and needs shelter for all weathers and a hard standing/concrete floor as they are susceptible to feet problems in wet weather

• Time and commitment to allow your goats to become a big part of your life and time to cater for their daily needs, including food and bedding

• The means to cover routine health care, including veterinary costs and feet trimming, worming and external parasites.

• Goats love brambles, shrubs and overgrown areas but dont eat as much grass as you would imagine but will eat tree bark and your favourite bedding plants!

• We ask that all our applicants undertake a goat care training course which is provided free of charge and covers areas of poisonous plants, diet, feet trimming etc as well as legal documents including CPH numbers. As a goat is classed as livestock, it is a requirement to obtain a CPH (County Parish Holding number) from DEFRA.

• All fosterers should take out third party insurance cover and would advise you to also having cover for vet bills

• Finally a big heart to love the goat or goats as most have suffered trauma in the past and are just wanting to be loved
